I am looking for some recipes and thought some of you might be able to help. I had this homemade chocolate sandwhich cookie a couple years ago at my step son’s open house. Everyone brought in goodies to raise money. Someone made the most delicious chocolate ccokie and spread it with some sort of white filling and then topped it with another cookie. They were delicious!! I live in the Findlay, Ohio area, so maybe someone out there says hey, thats my cookie!! Also looking for a recipe for Parrot Bay coconut shrimp with the dipping sauce like served at Red Lobster. I need rhubarb recipes and want to know if there is such a thing as rhubarb fritters. I need a good apple dumpling recipe and a peach dumpling recipe. I have a cookbook called Country Fair Food and Crafts and in it is a picture for a candy called coconut ice. The problem is, there isn’t a recipe for it in there!! It is a two layer candy cut in diamond shapes white layer on the bottom and pink layer on top. Thanks

How Do You Pair Up African Congo Greys For Breeding?

omally asked:

What’s the best way to safely introduce/pair up a young male & female African Congo Grey parrot to see if they like each other in hopes of eventually becoming a bonded pair for life?

I have a young female grey (fully tested, vet cleared healthy & DNA sexed); now I’m looking for her male counterpart to introduce together & see if they get along well enough to eventually become a bonded, proven pair & breed/hand-raise babies.

What’s the best & safest way to introduce 2 young birds for the first time & subsequent future times to see if they will like each other safely so they learn to “play nice” & eventually form a bonded breeding pair? My girl is just under 1 yr. old; the boy I’m considering is just 1 yr. old, too.

I know it takes a few yrs. before they will sexually mature & breed, that’s why I want to introduce them early. I am fully aware of “breed” vs. “pet” pairs, the hormone & behavior changes once they become a bonded breeding pair; I’m willing to take that on. Thanks!

Hand Rearing Birds Other Than Parrots?

chocoboryo asked:

If a finch, canary, dove (such as masked or diamond), or quail is hand raised, will they always be tame as long as they have that continuous interaction with people?

I take it that ringneck doves can be parent raised and still easily tamed? Are any other doves like this?

Is it frowned upon to hand raise finches as pets (when there is nothing wrong with the parents and hand rearing isn’t neccasary)?

How does hand raising these birds differ from hand raising parrots? (besides the obvious one of quails eating on their own from birth and different species take different amounts of time to grow)

Thank you. :) Also… yes, I do know what hand rearing birds involve and I have a little experience (only one instance though… hand raised finches).

No, I’m not planning on hand rearing right now, if at all (and not necessarily any of the species I am talking about). Although I would like to hand raise parrots at some point of my life.

Yes, I would always do thorough research and under the guide of an experienced person before doing anything like this.

Just making it clear. :)

African Grey Parrot — Male or Female best?

noonecanne asked:

My Father wants to purchase an African Grey parrot. Is a male or female easier to teach to talk and do tricks? Also, do these birds demand a lot of attention on a daily basis? My father has raised birds for several decades and has good knowledge of many different birds, but never has had an African Grey. Is this a good bird for an older gentleman with Parkinsons Disease?

Which parrot would you recommend?

charmed_and_dangerous_destiny asked:

I am interested in adding a parrot to my family and have been for several years now. I’ve owned birds in the past, my mother and I raised budgies and cockatiels, and I worked in a pet store with Macaws for about a year. I’ve read every book I can find on parrots for the past two years and have it narrowed to a few, but I’m curious to see what parrot savvy people would recommend for me.

Cost isn’t a big deal. I can afford the monthly costs of any parrot and if I have to save longer for the bird and cage, then so be it. I don’t much care if it talks and size isn’t really an issue either. I also don’t care if its the most beautiful bird or not, it’d be a nice bonus, but its not what I’ll base my decision on. I just want a bird with a good personality; one that’s friendly, fun, and doesn’t mind cuddling sometimes. I don’t mind spending several hours a day with it, in fact, I look forward to it.

So, given all this, what would you recommend and why? Thanks

Samantha
